Dustin,

You asked us to point you to the DMG Forums installations we've been installing. You've already seen my CSS-reworked 1st try. Here's the live site that it eventually turned into: http://www.sock23.com/forums

Wow. You did a really nice job with the design on that thing. I could barely tell that it was DMG Forums because the web design was so drastically different than what you get out of the box.

This is what I had hoped to see when looking for example sites. Pages that took the core features of the forum code, but integrated them into very different-looking web pages.

You will be happy to know, Sam, that many of the enhancements in Project Evolution will involve going in the direction of CSS and better HTML/color design strategies.

I was definately getting the impression from the posts scattered about these forums (in addition to our email exchanges) that you had some of this stuff in mind. Because I'm kind of a turd when it comes to doing things the way I want, I had to create a few end-runs around your code. That includes the menu, the topics list, and a couple others. Specifically, I'm using the Admin code to strip your formatting, reformatting to my tastes (more CSS), and then rebuilding the output. I don't like the reprocessing (just adds server load), but my collective site it pretty small, so I figured I could get away with it. As you update this stuff on your end, I'll integrate it on mine. My hope is that eventually, I will be using unaltered code and everything will be handled with the admin configuration. I offer anything I've done for your perusal--even if you throw it out (since I'm not all that good at ASP programming, I wouldn't be surprised). But if you get ideas based on what I'm doing, well, Hell, that would be quite an honor.

All I really want is a solid back and middle with knowledge of the hooks so I can manipulate the crap out of the front-end.

Sure thing. If your designs inspire additions to the future core, I'll give you full acknowledgement.
